Thursday 22nd January

Josh didn’t sleep well last night. He insists he had no sleep from 4am till 7am. The staff don’t agree. He said that he was in pain. In the morning he had his physio session and then the doctors round. He heard that his surgery will be at 9am tomorrow.
Bobby came in with Adrian and saw Josh. Marian came in and brought some delicious fruit. Josh was even prepared to eat a cherry despite having spent some time picking cherries.
Josh got mail – a letter from Trii, a card from Ms Robins and Ms Martin at LPHS. He also got some new glasses, quickly organised by Mary. Unfortunately they weren’t Dame Edna glasses.
Marian and Jude talked with Niall and he was keen to come and see Josh so he came in but unfortunately Josh was asleep. Niall, Marian and Jude decided a visit the pool would be good tomorrow.
Jude and Adrian went for lunch and Kath answered calls from Sandhya and Priyanka who talked to Josh. Emails came from Clair Beynon and Clair Elder (both book club nerds) and Richard Brookes (Kath’s brother).
When Jude was coming back to Josh’s room she ran into Nana and Granddad who had driven down from Picton and they cam into see Josh. They had some old photos from Xmas and last Xmas including a gorgeous one of Imogen’s belly.
Heather and Michelle from Jude’s work phoned and talked to Josh. Blair and the girls turned up from Dunedin and briefly saw Josh before catching up with Nana and Granddad. Then they went back to see Josh who had some chocolate milk and fruit.
Craig and Lucia came into see Josh. Kath came back after going to see some friends and bought Josh a CD player. Keely and Peter sent up 3 CD’s and a card with a photo of Violet. Harry sent up a card with best wishes.
Nana Joan rung and said that Josh’s accident had been reported in several papers in NZ including the Auckland Herald, Nelson News, Christchurch Press and Southland times. Joan said that the Southland Times reported that Josh had been surfing and had been pulled from the surf by an off duty lifeguard. Yvonne and Gavin Cox texted to say best wishes. Gaynor passed on messages from Virginia, Megan Prendergast and Sarah Campbell.
